Old House Stewardship Program

Old houses are just that, Houses, and houses need some one to live in
them. This program is about having responsible people occupy the
Historic Homes, in the NVCDC Saving Historic Homes Field laboratory
Program. The Steward of an old house, lives in the house, and makes it a
home. This is more than job, more than renting; being a Steward is a
calling to people how love old houses. Stewardship can also be a path to
ownership of one of these beautiful historic homes. Stewardship comes
with substantially reduced monthly cost of occupancy compared to rent or
a mortgage. Stewards are obligated to take care of basic maintenance of
the property they live in, pay for the utilities they use, and volunteer their
time to the programs of the NVCDC. If you are interested in an affordable
way to live in an historic home, help improve the neighborhood you live in,
and help revitalize the other historic homes in your community, this
program might be for you. NVCDC membership is required to participate
in this program.
