Community Gardens

Garden spaces provide outdoor activity experiences in your own
neighborhood. As well, these garden spaces help green the community and
provide a means to improve a neighborhoods livability. Turning vacant
lots into spaces to grow trees, flowers, and vegetables is a great way to
enhance older neighborhoods where the lots are small and the historic
houses are usually close together, limiting the potential for large scale
gardening. The NVCDC will acquire vacant lots in targeted
neighborhoods, and or enter into agreements with communities, and
landowners to bring green space to these communities. NVCDC
volunteers will have the opportunity participate in this process to improve
the community by bringing nature back to old neighborhoods. Become a
member, help improve your community in one of the NVCDC garden
programs.
